Sagole Place will consist of 878 residential units, of which 120 units are one-bedroom units (30.6m2) aimed at the primary rental market, and 280 units are two-bedroom units (43m2) aimed at the secondary rental market. The units are located in two and three storey walk-up building typologies which gives adds to the character of the overall development.
The two storey walk-up typologies have been arranged along a central vehicular and pedestrian movement spine. This spine connects all the buildings to the central amenities area.
The central amenities area is currently planned to cater for five-a-side soccer, a netball and basketball combination court and a clubhouse/multi-purpose hall which can be used for a variety of community functions as well as cater for after-care schooling and online learning. There will also be playgrounds for children and a safe water feature where kids can play with water safely.
The buildings have been arranged to on a north-south orientation to optimise on northern light and to minimise western sun exposure, due to the hot climate of Polokwane. The buildings have been carefully placed to encourage social interaction within each block but also between neighbouring blocks. The blocks also form the edges to various green courtyards with children’s playgrounds, outdoor gym facilities and a sprinting track.
The landscaping is further envisioned to adopt a water-wise strategy by utilising permeable paving for parts of the roads, parking, and pathways. This strategy reduces the likeliness of a stormwater retention pond and allows water to be retained on the site to ensure a green haven is created.
